Hubs cancels on us again
"...working late...blah...blah..."
The same old story
"Really? On Valentine's day?
...at the last minute?"
It's party of two
Mickey-D's or Chuck E Cheese?
Just you and me, son.
Oh, so romantic.
Crawling in the hamster maze
Just me and you, son.

What's the point of cooking a fabulous meal filled with love when I'm only going to eat it (and/or beg my son to eat it), then clean up afterwards alone... again?
My son had a blast running around and even did a happy dance.
In fact, it was the CUTEST dance ever. He wouldn't let me get a video of it, so you'll just have to take my word of it. It was seriously so adorable.
There's probably a few of you following my recent post turned debate/discussion on FussyPants' League of Extraordinary Wives regarding this, but for those of you that aren't, here's the back story:
My husband's long hours, late nights, and weekends at the office have become the "norm" recently, leaving me with 100% of the parenting, 100% of the housework, 0% of his time and 0% help. I'm talking 100 hour work weeks, not home at 9 instead of 7, people. I've tried to be understanding. I've tried to make the best of it, but it's like being a single parent and it's killing me.
Something had to give. Why not my standards for proper nutrition?
There. Done venting.

Man do I hear you...except add baby #2 to the mix! Husband is off changing the world while I am stuck single parenting, and it's hard! I feel for ya:)
Sorry that was me above...
Oh yeah. That definitely deserves some McDonalds!
Hope it gets better!
i TOTALLY hear you, sister!
my daughter's father (no longer in the picture) didn't work, and i STILL was responsible for 100 percent of everything.
today, though, i have an equal partner. who knew?
*hugs*
I think you made the best of it!
Well, I hope that "Hubs"
makes it up some other way.
Diamonds? Special date?
Seems like you made the evening “work” for you.
Hugs and blessings,
Great haiku.
Wow. Sorry you're having such a hard time, but what a priceless memory for you and your son.
Sometimes you just have to have fun :-)
Nothing like crawling in a hamster maze to get you all in the mood for love...lol
a little sad..but cute and funny...
I have a new feature I am starting over at the nest, please come check it out!

I have missed some of the back story, but I feel for you, and am in the same position (plus 1 and 1/2). We do a lot of frozen pizza, peanut butter and jelly, and, in one of my weakest 'single-mom' moments, rice with an assortment of side dishes. I hope that things get better soon! (And I secretly hope, because this is what happened at our house and what it took for hubby to realize how often he was gone, that your son notices his absence, and shows you more love and preference than your husband. Oh yes. I am petty like that.)
I am so sorry. I haven't been at League like I should..so I've missed that thread. I'm glad McDonald's was fun for at least one of you. Do you know any other "single" moms?

You should NOT have to cook on Valentine's Day! Don't feel guilty for taking the boy to McD's where he had a good time. It's worth a few fries for sure.
Oh my! I know what you mean. You need a break now and then.

At least it was a cool McDonalds--if there is a bright side.
Blogger is doing crazy things to me so I apologize if this comes through two, three, four times!
