The Thrill of the Hunt

This past weekend, we attended the ridiculous huge Easter Egg Hunt put on by our parish. Armed with two cameras and the camcorder, Hubby and I were super (dorky) excited about taking our son this year. We skipped this event his last two Easters, so this was his very first Easter Egg Hunt... ever!

He, on the other hand, was totally confused by whole thing. That is... until he accidentally popped opened one of the plastic eggs and discovered what magic it held inside....

"CHOCOLATE! Now I TOTALLY get the meaning of Easter!"

Yeah, he caught on quick and there was no stopping him after that. He was the last kid to leave the playground and go into the party that followed, where we encountered one more surprise....

Let's just say that he was less then impressed with the (adult-sized) nightmare fuel Easter Bunny, who was present for photo ops...

Yep, there's a classic photo.

I suspect a whole lot of parents have those kinds of pictures of their kids with the Easter Bunny and Santa. Can you believe that my kids have actually never had the experience of getting their picture taken with either? Weird! LOL

Human-sized Easter Bunnies and clowns, truly nightmare fodder. The photo will be a good one to show future girlfriends though.

I love it. Mine was like that at his school one last week. You could tell who had never competed (mine) & who fought 8 older siblings and a dog for a single egg (everybody else). Which parish are you at, you New Yawker?

Make the scary bunny go away mummy!!!

Thank GOD we don't have that sort of terrifying crap in Australia. I only realised a couple of days ago that you guys inflict this sort of thing on your kids!

Every time we get psyched up about taking our oldest daughter (3 1/2) to something... we sincerely underestimate her unhappiness. She's not a "big production" kind of girl. She's rather color than be hugged by a giant ass Easter Bunny.

Not that we won't try anyway....

My youngest was terrified of characters until she was 5 and met Dora, whom she loved at the time. After that, the problem was overcome.
Look at it this way: in 15 years, you can use that pic to embarrass him in front of his girlfriend!

That bunny is scary, I think I'd cry if I had a take a picture with him. I'll think I'll skip the photos and go straight for the chocolate eggs. What? My kid can't eat chocolate yet and he won't even know they were meant for him.
