When Giant Spiders Attack

AHHHHHHHH!

Oh okay. Just kidding! That's just one of our sofas wrapped up and ready to go because it's...

MOVING DAY!!!!

Every single piece of our furniture is being sealed for long-term storage as I blog. One by one, each item is taken onto the big bright shiny truck parked outside...

See, there goes our black leather sofa. It used to be the crown jewel of Hubby's "bachelor pad collection". These days, it's nothing special in our "playroom collection" It's covered in milk splatters and the crevices are filled with Cheerios and Cheddar Bunnies.

Mmm... Cheddar Bunnies....

It was the first piece of furniture to come into the house, and today, it was the first piece of furniture to come out. As I watched it being moved, I started getting emotional about leaving our very first home.

Last night, before leaving to stay at my parents' house, my son went around the house and said "good-bye" to each room. We told him it was the last time he was going to see his house... well, as it was. Today, I felt compelled to do the same thing, but I took photos instead.

This is what our bedroom looked like yesterday when my son was on his "farewell tour"...

... and this is what it looks like today.

Since no "respectable" charity was willing to take our (used) mattress and boxspring, we advertised it on Freecycle. Within 10 minutes, we had twelve "offers" on it. At 10 am this morning, a couple came by to get it... a mere hour before the movers showed up for the bed frame by the way. I also managed to pawn off... er, offer them an office desk and a drafting table that we've been trying to get rid of for weeks now.

They were extremely grateful and even offered to do some work around the house to "pay us back". We refused because they were actually doing us the favor by taking our free stuff, but seriously, how sweet is that?!

Of course, as soon as they drove off, a friend called to ask for the desk and was disappointed that we had just given it away. Still feeling so very magnanimous, we offered to let him "hold on to" a couple of long, heavy folding tables that could be used as desks...

He was delighted (I think) and showed up to get them twenty minutes later. One less thing to store ourselves. Score!

Here is my living room before...

...and what it looks likes at the moment.

Our entry hallway, before the movers came...

...and after.

And for my final heartbreak, my son's room on the day we brought him home from the hospital...

...and today.

I spent the majority of my post-baby-in-bed time last night reading your blog.

Good luck on your move, I am jealous too!
