Today, my son's "toddler-ness" reached brand new heights and he seems to have inherited my persistence. I'm talking MAR-A-THON tantrum-throwing here... lasting the greater part of the afternoon.
Nothing... and I do mean, NOTHING worked to calm him, not even the time-outs that came highly recommended by our doctor. She even gave us a handout and suggested a book on the topic... Piff.
About to lose it, I put him in his crib and stepped outside for some fresh air and a much needed "mommy time-out" (a minute for every birthday, right?).
I was about to take a deep breath when a car whizzed by me. Two kids were hanging out of the back passenger windows from the waist up and arguing with at one another very LOUDLY over the roof of the car. They pulled into their garage and the door was shut immediately after.
Following closely behind them was an SUV full of more children bouncing around in the back. They also pulled into the same driveway.
That's when I realized that THAT mom was probably having a worse day than me and it certainty wasn't about to get any better. At least my son's tantrums haven't become "ticketable offenses"... Yet.

if you train them well when they are young they will not be so difficult when they are older, I know this via experience!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today and adding to my T13 list! Come back again!
Umm, ONLY ONE minute for every birthday? Dang.
Way to see the silver lining.
I have been doing time outs with Miss Peach. They kind of work, not always (two is two) tantrumville:(
Thanks for your comment over on cre8Buzz. I have left details of how I did it in your comment section.
have a good day.

Yet. tee hee...
I remember Fa's marathon tantrums...No matter how hard it was for me...I ignored them.
Eventually she stopped and eventually she started using more of her words and the tantrums stopped all together..
I know. I just. Know.
I have no words of wisdom-- only Hang On!!

Sounds like an interesting neighborhood!
Yeah, when I have a bad mom day I think about Brittney Spears. Nobody has worse "bad mom days" than she does lately.
Haaaa haaa haaaa!!!!!
Oh, bugger, *I* am one of those mothers..... Thankfully here they can't get their license until they are 18!
Time outs still work here for the older kids. 1 minute for each birthday means miss 14 has to spend 14 minutes sitting with her parents and OUT of her room!
Bwaaaa haaa haaaaa
I have to agree with Heidi Hyde. :)
Thanks for all the comments and the support!
We all have our rough days and then, there are the really bad days... I'm just glad to have all of you (oh, and the Internet) to turn too! :-)
Thanks for all the great comments.
Isn't it funny how when we are having a bad day we think we are the only ones in the world that have days like this? Sometimes all it takes is a glimpse into someone else's world to see just how lucky we really are :)
I remember toddler days well..deep breathes and counting to 10..now we are in teenage years and I am still doing it LOLcua
