Whatever it was, I definitely need to get my butt in gear before the holiday pounds really hit... and the days are flying by. Can you believe this time next week it will be NOVEMBER?!
So anyway, I took a walk today (whew-hew), and of course, I brought along my camera just in case there was more Halloween hokeyness to share. My neighbors certainly did not disappoint. Sure enough, there were a few more items that went up this weekend in anticipation of the big night.
Inflatables are certainly the thing to have. Here's one we lovingly call "Hypno Pumpkin".
I passed by it in the car earlier today and came to a screeching halt when I noticed something really odd about it.You can't tell from this photo, but its eyes... those crazy, crazy, crazy pumpkin eyes... well, they SPIN and light up.
As if that demented smile wasn't creepy enough...
Then there's this... an inflatable carriage hearse with a glowing corpse inside....
... which was next door to ALL this...
I think every neighborhood in the suburbs has at least one family like this one, or at least they should. These people bust out all the stops... and not just for the obvious holidays like Christmas and Halloween. If it's almost Easter, there's eggs and a 12 foot bunny in the yard. They do something for the Fourth of July and for Valentine's Day, their bare trees are covered in cupids and red hearts. Thanksgiving brings a turkey of Macy's parade float caliber, and for Halloween, they bring out these guys...

Your neighborhood is awesome!
That's fun.
I bought Halloween decor last year, and you can't even see it from the street...I don't know why I bothered...
I wish I could do all that.
Soooo fun, I love it. I live downtown, it's harder to find that here. It's probably for the best. Given the opportunity, I would go way over the top with the Halloween decorations!
Interesting photos. Up until reading your blog, I thought Americans only decorated their gardens for Christmas.
Wow, how fun. I thought our neighbors were over the top when they rented a casket in a herse for decor!
We're seeing more and more of those inflatable things each year - Christmas is the same. The carriage was crazy.
