Haiku: No Time for Childhood Today

Clean house or feed ducks.
Maybe we'll do laundry? NAH!
It's too nice outside!

Let's go play today!
Dishes can wait for later.
You're only young once.

Pack snack. Bring your toys.
We have an appointment with
the sandbox and swings.

Hop into the car
No chores. No errands for us.
We'll be fancy free!

Service light pops up.
What? An oil change already?
How long can it take?

We'll get it in quick...
Ha! It's two hours later
and we're still waiting...

Oh crap! It's the brakes!
"Replace them now or later,"
they say, "up to you..."

Uh, what do you think?
I haul some precious cargo!
A boy and his snacks.

Yes! Replace them, please...
Wait! How much coin will we drop?
GULP! That's what I thought.

Sorry, my sweet son.
No time for the park today.
We just can't escape.

Penned at the Volvo dealership, waiting with my son for an oil change, new brake pads, and a "complimentary" car wash. Ha! More like "most expensive car wash ever"

Thanks for visiting Small Reflections today and leaving a link so I could find you. Seems like I might have visited before … perhaps on Haiku Friday. How frustrating that your ‘day of play’ was interrupted by car troubles.
Hugs and blessings,

Oh that just bites! I hate it when adult life undermines those fantastic "freedom" moments!!

I hope you get another playday soon.

You told the story in a lovely haiku!

Well THAT really stinks. Car troubles always bleed you dry.

Oh no! But you're such a great mom for going with the flow. Hope the weather holds for the weekend.

Bummer on the car, but good that you discovered it that way and not a more drastic way. Good job with the haiku!

That's a bummer that you had to change your plans like that but I am glad they found the brakes needed fixing. The cargo we carry is way too important.

Great Haiku!
