I'm taking a little bloggy break for the rest of the week. I'm off to Charleston for a much-needed girls' weekend away.
It's sort of a zany idea hatched a few months ago during playgroup. One of the moms was home sick for Charleston and telling us how lovely it is in the fall.
"Oh, I wish I could take ya'll there one day. Just the girls. You'd just LOVE it. Love it!"
Apparently, that's all the coaxing we needed, because a week later we were swapping travel dates and redeeming frequent flyer miles and suddenly, we were elevated to BEST playgroup in our mom's group... ever.
When I tell my other friends that I not only get along, but am actually going on vacation with the mommies in my son's playgroup (yes, the very same playgroup that my friend ditched because they weren't "fun" enough), there is shock followed by awe followed by delicious bright green envy.
I know it probably seems strange that I'm going on a trip with my gal pals on a weekend that Hubby and I could have probably planned a romantic getaway for our anniversary. Don't think it didn't cross my mind. We had a few roundabout conversations about it earlier in the year, but they basically went no where.
Then, as plans for our girls' getaway were getting finalized, this just happened to be the weekend that worked "best" for everyone else. I talked it over with my husband and he didn't mind. In fact, he encouraged me to just do it!
"Go," he said, "Have a great time! You DESERVE it."
Heck, he practically packed my bags tonight!
Don't you see now, why I love him more every day! He's so supportive of me getting out of the house for a few days. Then again, how else is he ever going to get any coding done? (Smirk!)
I'm not sure what's on the agenda while we're in Charleston, but as long as it doesn't involve sweeping up smooshed cereal, I'm ready for whatever.
I'm so freakin' excited!
See you in a few days.

I am excited for you. That is so wonderful. Girl friends are the best. My husband rarely makes big sweeping romantic gestures, but he always supports me and loves me, which is infinitely better to me.
Have fun.
Hey, find out for me...Do they actually do 'the charleston" in Charleston?
I just did a girl weekend (well, OK, five days) with ten other chicks in NYC. Definitely a truly relaxing take a break from the kiddos time, those are nice to have.
Have a great time!
Hope you have a great trip! :)
Hope you have lots of fun!
Is there room in your suitcase for me?
Have a fantastic time and don't come back with a southern drawl!
Color me jealous...Have fun!
